BRIGHTON ROTARY

The 85 members of the Brighton Rotary club are committed toBrighton Rotary their community … and that community can be their neighbors down the street or across the globe as well as encouraging the next generation to embrace community service.

LOCALLY

About a dozen times a year, the nationally-recognized Brighton Rotary Raiders grab hammers, shovels and drills to build handicap-accessible ramps and other projects to allow disabled Livingston County residents and their families easier access to their homes. Brighton Rotary also vigorously supports the Brighton Community Connect literacy program.

Some of the many other Livingston County programs that Brighton Rotary supports with volunteer time and money: Salvation Army, Gleaners Food Bank, the American Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, March of Dimes and the Livingston County Humane Society.

GLOBALLY

Brighton Rotary supports Rotary International’s Polio Plus campaign that is “this close” to eradicating the disease from the planet.

The Brighton club is actively involved with several humanitarian projects in South America, sending volunteers and money to support:

  • The Amazon Rain Forest Adopt a School program
  • Bio-sand water filters which provide safe drinking water for remote Peruvian Indians high in the Andes
  • Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, which provides eye-glasses to Peruvian residents in the Sacred Valley near Cusco.

NEXT GENERATION

The Brighton Rotary Club helps develop the next generation of leaders through sponsorship of Boy Scout Troop 350 and the Brighton High School Interact service club. Additionally, the club provides college scholarships for Brighton High school seniors, supports the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and sponsors exchange students through Youth Study Exchange.
